The Kodak Easyshare C643 Will Not Format The Memory Card

Memory cards need to be formatted to work with a new device.

The Kodak EasyShare C643 is a digital zoom camera. This 6.1 megapixel camera can use SD or MMC memory cards to store the images shot with the camera. To use the memory card with this camera, you need to format the card. Several conditions might prevent the camera from formatting the memory card.

Instructions

1. Check that the memory card is compatible with the camera. Although the Kodak EasyShare C643 can record to SD, it is not compatible with SDHC cards. Also, SD cards larger than 16 GB might not work.

2. Check that the memory card is inserted properly into the memory card slot on the camera. If the card is inserted backward with the connector facing the wrong way, the camera will not read the card and the card might become damaged.

3. Try formatting the memory card on your computer. If your computer has a memory card reader, insert the card into your computer and open "My Computer." Right-click on the memory card and select "Format." Select "Full Format" if prompted, and eject the card when finished. This might also fix a corrupted memory card and allow you to format it with the camera.
