Sidekick Slide Instructions

The T-Mobile Sidekick Slide is the first phone in the Sidekick line to be manufactured by Motorola. As such, it can be a bit difficult for users of older Sidekick models to understand. However, every Slide user should at least know utilize three advanced functions.

Themes

The Slide allows users to customize their experience by changing the theme of the device. To find additional themes, simply visit a website, such as skSlideThemes.com, to browse and download. Once the theme is downloaded, you can then load it onto your Slide.

Connect the Slide to your computer via a USB port. Locate the downloaded theme file on your desktop, and extract it to the "Themes" folder on your Sidekick. Activate the new theme by choosing the "Backgrounds" option on the main menu of the phone.

Music

A great feature of the Sidekick Slide is its ability to act as an MP3 player. To effectively store and play music on the device, though, you must have a 4GB memory card (these are relatively inexpensive and can be purchased at any department or electronics store). To load music on the phone, open the "Music" folder on the memory card. Locate the MP3 files on your computer, and drag them to the "Music" folder on your phone. Once the transfer is complete, you can play the music on your phone by clicking the "Music" button on the main menu.

Instant Messaging

Perhaps the best feature of the Sidekick Slide is the ability to work with all three major instant messaging clients. To select your messenger of choice from the main menu, click the menu button on the keyboard, and choose "Accounts" from the list of options. It will then ask you enter your AIM, Yahoo! or MSN account information. From that point, you can simply log in and begin chatting with your buddies.
