Use Manual Exposure On Canon Dslr

Canon has a fairly extensive collection of digital SLR (DSLR) cameras that are designed for amatuer photographers who want to do a little more with their photos as well as professional photographers who are using their camera to make a living. If you have recently purchased a DSLR, using the manual exposure on the camera is fairly easy to do and only requires the turn of a few buttons.

Instructions

1. Turn the wheel at the top of the camera to the "P." In the case of the select wheel on the Canon DSLR, "P" stands for "Program."

2. Press the button on the back of the camera marked "ISO" to manually adjust the exposure or "film speed" in your camera. The ISO setting in your camera determines how sensitive your cameras sensor is to light. Typically you will want to use a low ISO setting, such as 100, for exceptionally bright situations, and a high ISO setting, such as 1600, for lower light situations.

3. Take a few test photos with your new exposure setting. If a picture appears blurry or your camera has an exceptionally hard time capturing a particular photo, then you may need to change your exposure to a higher or lower setting.

4. Turn the wheel on the top of your camera back to the green square icon in order to have the camera automatically set its exposure for future pictures.
