Infrared Space Heater Information

Radiant heat provide versatility in warming a space.

Infrared space heaters provide versatility and can be used to heat living spaces, sheds and garages. In addition, these heaters can heat walls, ceilings and floors, or dry and cure materials like paint and lacquer.

Electromagnetic Radiation

Infrared heaters utilize electromagnetic radiation to send heat energy. Particles charged with electricity carry the heat energy through empty space, or to anything in its path. Called electromagnetic radiation because the energy radiates heat from the particles, it warms whatever the particles pass through.

Gas or Electric

Infrared heaters may be either gas- or electric-radiant. Infrared quartz heaters are electric, while gas-radiant heaters receive power from gas flames.

Advantages

Infrared space heaters provide energy efficiency and receive classification as green products. Because they have no emissions, they discharge no harmful fumes. Space heaters use less energy than forced-air furnaces, reduce fire hazards and heat an area quicker.

Disadvantages

Though infrared space heaters use radiant heat, they won't replace central heating systems. They are efficient, solely when direct heat is an issue.
