Use a tripod and a close-up lens to take macro photos with the Canon S3
Released in 2006, the Canon S3 IS (Image Stabilized) is a compact digital camera with a 12x zoom telephoto lens and a 6.0 megapixel CCD (Charge Coupled Device) sensor. With its 12x optical zoom lens, the camera is well-suited when you need to magnify your subject. For extreme close-up and or macro photography, the Canon 500D Close-up accessory lens will allow you to take pictures at a range of 19 inches.
Instructions
1. Attach the Canon S3 IS camera to a tripod. While the camera lens has a built-in image stabilization feature, a tripod is recommended when shooting macro photograph because any camera movement during exposure will show up in your pictures.
2. Attach the 500D Close-up lens to the camera by screwing the accessory lens onto the threads on the front of S3's lens.
3. Turn the camera on and extend the lens by rotating the collar ring until the image you are photographing fills the viewing screen. Once the screen is filled with your subject, press the shutter release button to take the picture.
