The lens is one of the most important parts of a camera
A camera's main functions are to help you view the scene so you can select what you want to photograph, focus the scene, and expose the film so that the picture is not too light or too dark. This article will discuss the different parts of film cameras.
The Body
The camera body is the plastic or metal casing that holds the enclosed camera parts.
The Lens
The lens can be moved forward and back to bring objects at different distances into sharp focus. Lenses come in all different lengths and sizes with various focal lengths for different cameras.
The Aperture
The aperture adjusts from larger, which lets in more light, to smaller, letting in less light. This, combined with the shutter speed, will dictate your exposure. Aperture is measured in F-stops.
The Shutter
The shutter opens and closes to limit the length of time that light strikes the film. This is measured in shutter speed.
The Film
With film cameras, the film records the image transmitted by the lens.
The Viewfinder
The view finder shows the picture that the lens will focus on the film.
