Transfer your film footage onto a video camera and then onto your computer.
Super 8 is a movie film format that offers slightly more resolution than standard 8 mm film. If you have footage on Super 8 film and want to edit the content or upload it onto the Internet, you must first transfer the Super 8 film to video. Although there are businesses that can transfer the footage directly onto a DVD, the process is rather pricey. Instead, you can record the footage onto a digital video camera, then upload it directly to your computer.
Instructions
1. Position the Super 8 film projector toward either a projection screen or a white wall.
2. Place the video camera directly under the lens of the Super 8 projector. Power on the camera and focus it on the area where you will project the Super 8 film.
3. Start the film projector, then press "Record" on the video camera. Once the film has finished, click "Stop" to stop the recording.
4. Plug either the USB or the FireWire cable into the appropriate port on the camera, then insert the opposite end of the cable into either a USB or FireWire port on the computer (some computers do not have a FireWire connection).
5. Launch Windows Movie Maker and click the "Capture" option. Power on the video camera and a prompt window appears, stating the computer has detected the camera. Select this camera then click "Record" in the editor. The video footage now begins to import onto the computer. Click "Stop" to stop the video transfer.
