Debug An Auto Gps

Most issues that come up when using a GPS in an automobile will be related to the navigation settings. What looks on the surface to be buggy behaviour is, in fact, settings that are not optimized to your preferences. The routes and types of roads you want to use, for example, can be optimized on the device.

Instructions

1. Make sure the route preferences are set to your preference for calculating the route. In the setup menu, select "Faster Time" to calculate routes that are faster to drive but can be longer in distance. These routes may include freeways and toll roads, and you may add more miles to your vehicle over time. Select "Shorter Distance" to calculate the routes that are as short as possible but may take more time to drive because of other factors.

2. Check the "Avoidances" setting. This can be called "Road Types" or other labels too. Make sure the types of road you want to use are enabled. For example, you can enable or disable highways, toll roads, ferries and unpaved roads. If you have traffic monitoring built in, you can set the device to avoid traffic.

3. The audio prompts can be set on or off. You can switch off the attention tone and the audio voice---the voice that announces the routes. If the audio voice has stopped functioning, then check this menu item to see if it's off.

4. Reboot the device if the outlined steps above haven't corrected your problem. As a last resort, ust the "Restore Settings" menu item in the navigation settings to restore the device to its factory state. It's not going to restore your settings, but it will likely fix any bugs.
