Unlock Motorola I880

The Motorola I880 can end up locked in a variety of ways, all of which will stop phone functionality. Once locked, you will be blocked from using your phone's keypad, the menu options or even the SIM card. Unlocking your Motorola I880 is easy enough to do by following a simple set of steps.

Instructions

SIM Card Lock

1. Open the main menu from the home screen on your phone. The error message "SIM Locked" appears on the Motorola I880 when you become locked out of using the SIM card. You might even see a message that says "Call Customer Care for a PUK number."

2. Scroll to and select "Settings," then select "Security."

3. Scroll to and select "Change Passwords," and then click on "SIM PIN." If you need to, click on "Yes" to turn on your SIM PIN. Selecting "No" at this point will turn off SIM card lock.

4. Enter the default SIM PIN code. The default SIM PIN code is "1234" or "0000" (four zeros). Stop if you keep receiving an error message; the phone might lock permanently if you enter the incorrect code multiple times.

5. Enter a new four-digit SIM PIN code of your choice in the field that appears. This ensures that the SIM PIN code is not the default setting and is something you can easily remember. Change your code from the default code for security reasons.

6. Scroll down and re-enter the new SIM PIN code you just created and then click "Save."

Device Lock / Unlock

7. Open the main menu from the home screen on your phone. The Motorola I880 can set a device lock to hide your applications and menu items. This option also locks your phone every time you turn it off. However, you can turn off device lock with a few steps.

8. Click to your main menu, then select "Settings" and then "Security."

9. Select the "Phone Lock" option that appears.

10. To turn off device lock, select "Off." The phone will no longer lock. To turn on device lock, select either "Lock Now" or "Lock at Power On."

11. Click the center button to select "Submit." If your phone asks for a passcode, enter the code you set for this. Or, enter the default password of "1234" or "0000" (four zeros) if you never created a password on the phone.

12. Verify that your phone is unlocked or locked as you selected.

Application Lock

13. Open the main menu from the home screen on your phone. The Application Lock / Privacy Option feature allows you to password protect and lock applications or menus on the handset.

14. Click to your main menu, then select "Settings" and then "Security." Roll down and click on the Application Lock icon.

15. Type the unlock code in the unlock password field. The default unlock code is typically "1234" or "0000" (four zeros) for Motorola phones.

16. Move to the application you want to lock once the password is entered.

17.Hit the center key to select "Submit" and then click on to "Lock." Turning on this feature only prevents applications or menus from being accessed. Navigate back to this area to unlock an application.
