Save Videos To A Vixia Hf20 Memory Card

Canon's Vixia HF20 is a compact high definition camcorder with Dual Flash Memory for video saving and storage capability. With 32 GB of built-in memory and provision for an optional high capacity SD flash card, the Vixia HF20 can hold hours of video before downloading to computers swapping SD cards. For storing movies, the SDHC card must be Speed Class 4 or higher -- indicated on the SD card package -- otherwise only still pictures are able to be stored. SDHC cards cards are inserted by opening the viewfinder, opening the card slot door and inserting the card.


Instructions


1. Turn the camera power on after inserting the memory card and select the mode function dial to camera or camcorder operation. The function dial is illustrated with icons representing the two modes.


2. Initialize the SDHC card if using for the first time by depressing the function button on the side of the camcorder behind the LCD viewfinder.


3. Complete the initialization pressing the MENU button underneath the LCD joystick controller, choosing TOOLS, SD card or internal memory and installation type. Quick initialization deletes the SD card allocation files but saves stored items, while complete initialization erases all stored files. Choose YES, OK and hit the FUNC button once again.


4. Choose the SDHC card to store images by pressing the MENU button below the joystick control on the LCD panel. A camcorder and still camera icon will appear. The default choice is the built-in memory, so choosing the SDHC card option is necessary.


5. Use the joystick controller to toggle to the camcorder or camera, and press the center joystick button to select your choice. Choosing the camcorder will save videos, while choosing the camera will save still photos to the SDHC card.
