Make A Camera Housing

Making a housing for your camera will save you money.

If you're interested in a water-proof housing for your camera, you could go to a camera shop and spend a whole lot of money on a professional rig. But if you're short on cash, you can make your own camera housing yourself for a fraction of the cost of those that you see in stores. The process will take some time and concentration, but once you're finished you will have an effective, water-proof camera housing that is just as effective as a professional housing.

Instructions

1. Use your tape measure to measure your particular camera from front to back and then use the saw to cut the four-inch ABS pipe (available from any hardware store) to size.

2. Coat the interior of bot sides of the pipe with black ABS glue and fit the threaded coupling in one end and the flange in the other. Wait for the glue to dry.

3. Cut a round shape out of your 1/2 plastic the size of the flange opening and use the clear PVC glue to secure the plastic in the flange.

4. Fit your camera in the pipe with the lens facing the plastic. Screw on the end cap and you have a new camera housing.
