The body of an SLR style camera without a lens.

Lumix, a series of digital cameras manufactured by Panasonic, consist of both compact, SLR and DSLR models predominantly aimed at the beginner and intermediate photographer.

Appearance

Lumix cameras come in a variety of colors not normally associated with digital cameras such as metallic orange, pink and purple. The DSLR models are available in the more subdued colors of dark red, blue and black.

Even the cheapest Lumix compact models come with 10.1 megapixels and face recognition software, which is good news for those on a budget. The more expensive compact cameras in the series such as the DMC- ZR3K and FX75K come with a higher number of pixels, optical zoom and an ultra-wide angle lens. The G2R SLR models come with even more features including interchangeable lens options, white balance temperature settings and adjustable shutter speed.

The Lumix series ranges greatly in price as it encompasses everything from basic compact models to the more advanced DSLR cameras. The lowest priced model is the DMC-F2K which has a 2010 suggested retail price of $109.95. The most expensive camera is the DMC-G2 series which has a 2010 retail price of $799.95.
