Introduction to the Panasonic Compact VHS camcorder
VHS camcorders are much less prevalent these days with the advent of digital video. Panasonic has a series of compact VHS camcorders that are designed for amateur home video enthusiasts. Although they are no longer being manufactured, these camcorders are still in use by many people because the quality of the product is very good. With many older pieces of electronics, however, technical problems and issues can sometimes occur. There are some troubleshooting steps that can address common issues that occur with Panasonic compact VHS camcorders.
What to do if too much condensation occurs
One common problem in older electronics is over condensation. This occurs when the moving parts inside the camcorder become stressed and condensed. If this happens, a warning light indicator will flash on the screen of the Panasonic VHS camcorder that says "DEW." When this warning appears, press the "TAPE EJECT" button on the top of the camcorder and remove the VHS tape. Then wait 5 to 10 minutes until the "DEW" warning is no longer flashing. After the warning stops flashing, insert the tape and continue to record.
What if the video recording is distorted?
Another common problem with the Panasonic VHS camcorder is a distorted picture. This can occur for several reasons. One possible reason for a distorted picture is that the VHS tape being used is old or recycled. The Panasonic Users Manual indicates that tapes should never be reused in order to ensure the highest quality recordings. Another possible reason for a distorted picture is that the camera has a setting turned on that should not be. For example, the "LOW LIGHT" button might be set to "on" when there in fact is no need for this setting. If this is the case, turn off the setting by selecting the setting until it is set to off.
