Use A Canon Sx100

Use a Canon SX100

The Canon SX100 IS is a consumer digital camera that can take pictures at an 8-megapixel resolution. The compact camera comes in both silver and black and has a 2.5-inch LCD screen, ISO up to 1600 and a 10X optical zoom for getting closer to subjects when you're taking pictures. If you've just purchased an SX100 or are thinking about picking one up, learning use it is fairly easy.

Instructions

1. Turn the wheel at the top of the camera to the green AUTO to put the camera in automatic mode. Auto mode will compensate for the lighting where you are and adjust your camera's settings accordingly.

2. Press the shutter button down on the SX100 halfway in order to focus. Once your subject is in focus, press the shutter button down the rest of the way to take the picture.

3. Press the button on the right side of the wheel on the back of the camera to turn off the flash if you don't want it (the button is designated by a lightning bolt icon). The SX100 will automatically default to using the flash in conditions under which it judges it to be necessary unless you specifically turn the flash off.

4. Press the button on the left side of the wheel (with a flower beside it) on the back of the camera in order to use the SX100's macro mode. Macro mode sets the camera to take pictures of things that are close to the camera lens. It is typically used to take close-up pictures of small objects such as coins or bugs.

5. Pressing the button at the bottom of the wheel (with a picture of a broken circle and several pieces of paper beside it) will let you use the self-timer on the camera, or to use continuous mode. The self-timer feature allows you to get into the picture yourself before it is snapped. Continuous mode sets you up to take several quick photos back-to-back, which is great for capturing fast-moving objects or for sports photography.

6. Carry your camera around in a case whenever it is not in use. Since the SX100 is a compact consumer camera it doesn't require any regular maintenance. Keeping it clean, dry and protected in a case will prevent it from being damaged. You should be able to take great pictures using it well into the future.
