Wire A Turner Microphone To A Kenwood Ts450

Turner microphones are renowned for their warm tone and reliable operation over a history that dates back to the early days of audio recording. The Kenwood TS-450 is an amateur radio transceiver that the company has discontinued. The Kenwood is equipped with an XLR-type microphone jack on the front panel for hooking up a Turner microphone. Wiring the devices together takes only a few seconds.

Instructions

1. Press the "Power" button in the top-left corner of the Kenwood TS-450 front panel if the unit is powered on, to shut off the transceiver and prevent an electrical surge.

2. Plug one end of the XLR cable into the jack on the Turner microphone, lining up the plug pins with the holes in the mic jack.

3. Connect the other end of the cable to the "MIC" jack in the lower-left corner of the Kenwood TS-450 front panel.

4. Press the "Power" button on the Kenwood and toggle the microphone slide switch to the "On" position.
