If you're a do-it-yourself type who has just signed up for satellite dish service, you're probably wondering do the installation yourself. Once you have the right equipment and a self-installation kit in hand, it is a matter of choosing an ideal location for your dish, grabbing your tools---and most likely a sturdy ladder---and pointing it to the sky in the right direction (usually to the south). Instructions


1. Call and sign up for service with your local satellite TV provider (such as DirecTV or a similar service). It will offer you satellite dish installation equipment (or send an authorized technician to your home to help you to install your satellite dish if you have a hard time).


2. Go to an electronics store, such as Best Buy, to purchase your satellite dish equipment and sign up for the corresponding service. The store will ship the equipment to your door if you plan to install it yourself.

4. Order your satellite dish installation equipment from Amazon.com. This site has a wide selection of dish models that will go with your service, but that do not necessarily require a new satellite service sign-up. Amazon also carries the self-installation kits that you will need to set up your dish.


5. Post a message on SatelliteGuys.us to ask for satellite dish installation equipment in your area. You can also find a used unit at Craigslist.org, Oodle.com, PennysaverUSA.com or your local newspaper's online classified ads.
