Troubleshoot Kodak P850 Problems

Don't let problems with your Kodak P850 prevent you from capturing that breathtaking shot.

The Kodak EasyShare P850 is designed to make taking impressive pictures simple, even for amateurs. It features a 12X optical zoom, five megapixel resolution and a variety of performance features to help you shoot everything from portraits to landscapes. While these are great features to have, when problems arise it can put a damper on the moment you're trying to capture. Luckily, common Kodak P850 problems like a stubborn flash or improper orientation can often be fixed on the spot.

Instructions

1. Replace the Kodak P850 battery if the camera does not turn on, if the controls do not function or if the lens does not retract. Make sure the battery is inserted properly and readjust it if necessary. Put a charged battery in the camera or connect the camera to a 5-volt AC adapter and try to turn it on again.

2. Turn the Kodak P850 off and on again if the lens does not extend or retract upon turning on the camera. Test the battery to make sure it is charged, or remove your camera from Favorites mode. If these steps do not solve the problem, contact the manufacturer for further instructions.

3. Remove the lens cap if the Kodak P850's EVF/LCD screen is black. Push the EVF/LCD toggle button to select the correct display. Press any button on the camera to wake the EVF/LCD from sleep mode.

4. Transfer the photo to your computer if a blue or black screen appears when you select "Review" to look at pictures you have taken. If this does not work, transfer all pictures to your computer or try taking another picture. Replace your memory card if the screen continues to appear blank.

5. Turn on the orientation sensor if your photo is not properly oriented. Select the setup menu, then select the orientation sensor setting. Highlight "On."

6. Select the proper flash setting on the Kodak P850 if the flash does not work. From the setup menu, select "External Flash," then "External Flash Only" or "Camera and External Flash." Select "Auto-Flash" from the flash menu to allow the camera to use the flash as necessary.

7. Press the shutter button down completely if you cannot take a picture. Check the battery to make sure it is charged. Change the memory card or transfer photos to the computer if the memory is full.

8. Follow the on-screen instructions if an error message appears on the EVF/LCD screen. Record the error number, turn the camera off and back on. Remove and replace the battery and memory card. Call the manufacturer's customer support if the error message does not disappear.
