Use Gps With A Blackberry 7130e

A Blackberry device is a very handy tool that you can use for pleasure and business. Many Blackberry models offer many added features to make life easier and simpler for people. For example, some features may include BlueTooth and GPS (Global Positioning Service). The GPS can be very helpful when you are traveling and trying to find your way. Newer Blackberry models can get the navigation or GPS feature simply by a touch of a button, for the Blackberry 7130e, however, there are a few more steps involved prior to using the GPS

Instructions

1. Call your Blackberry service provider to activate the GPS. The GPS is not a default setting on Blackberry 7130e. You would need to get the plan for GPS to avail of that service. There are plans and roaming fees that you may have to pay use the service.

2. Connect a GPS dongle or receiver to your Blackberry 7130e. Since your Blackberry comes with a BlueTooth, it should be able to work with a GPS receiver. Please refer to the model GlobalSat BT-359C SiRF Star 111 BlueTooth.

3. Get a software patch for your Blackberry 7130e GPS. The patch code is KB110060, which is for the internal GPS or Blackberry 7130e. The service provider or carrier will provide you the patch and help you install it.

4. Download and install Nav4All. Navi4All is free until January 1, 2010. This allows for worldwide mobile navigating, tracking and tracing. This software is valid for use in North America, Brazil, Mexico, Europe, South Africa, Australia and Asia. Note that Nav4All only automatically selects real internal GPS receiver, which a Blackberry 7130e does not have. You can force Nav4All to use the network assisted GPS by changing the settings. Go to settings, setup and then go to LAPI advanced.

5. Use the Blackberry browser and go to any map provider to get to your destination. An example will be going to MapQuest or Google maps that also use satellites similar to other GPS devices. Using the browser is another way you can find locations using your Blackberry 7130e through third party applications available free of charge.
