A Tuner To A Tv Without A Tuner

An external tuner connected to a monitor can transform the component into a functional TV.

An external TV tuner can be connected to a television monitor that is not equipped with a built-in tuner. These stand-alone tuners are typically equipped with a remote control for programming and changing channels. A tuner attaches to the TV with a coaxial cable and threaded couplers. A second cable is needed to connect the tuner to a signal source, such as cable or satellite service. The setup should take less than 10 minutes.

Instructions

1. Connect a coaxial cable from the RF OUT jack on the external tuner by turning the threaded coupler clockwise around the jack.

2. Attach the coupler on the other end to the ANT IN jack on the back of the TV, tightening the coupler by hand.

3. Connect a second coaxial cable from the OUT to TV jack on the back of a satellite or cable receiver, or the coaxial output jack on the base of an antenna

4. Secure the coupler on the other end of the cable to the RF IN jack on the external TV tuner.

5. Plug the DC power cord into the jack on the tuner and connect the other end to a wall outlet.
