Remove A Chevy Equinox Cd Changer

The Chevrolet Equinox is a front-wheel drive, mid-size SUV. It was introduced for the 2005 model year, along with its twin, the Pontiac Torrent. The Equinox is primarily known for the unique location of its power window controls (center console). Base Equinox models include a standard single-disc CD player; higher-level packages, such as the Equinox LTZ, are equipped with an in-dash, six-disc CD changer. Removing the changer takes approximately 20 minutes.

Instructions

1. Move your gearshift to the "Neutral" position. Apply the parking brake, turn your engine off and unhook and isolate the ground battery cable (black).

2. Remove the trim panel below your power window controls on the center console. The panel is attached by clips; it snaps off with ease.

3. Grasp the center dash panel (it extends from above the radio to around the gear shift) and snap it off. Start at one end of the panel, then work your way down or up until the panel is detached. Unplug the switch attached to the climate control from behind the panel.

4. Remove the four bolts mounting the head unit. Use a standard socket wrench (9/32 metric or 1/4-inch) to remove the bolts.

5. Carefully slide the head unit from the dash. Unplug the antenna cable and the two wiring harnesses to finish.

6. Put your gear shift back in "Park" when finished; do not leave the vehicle unattended with the gear shift in neutral.
