Lighting To My Photo

Lighting allows photographers to create unique and interesting portraits.

Lighting is one of the most crucial elements of photography, but sometimes adequate lighting may be lacking when a photo is taken. It may thus become necessary to digitally render lighting effects on an image. Graphic programs such as Photoshop allow you to fix photographs taken in poor lighting situations.

Instructions

1. Open your image in Photoshop.

2. Open the "Filter" drop-down menu from the main menu bar. Open the "Render" submenu from the drop-down menu. Select "Lighting Effects" from the "Render" submenu.

3. Choose a specific type of light you wish to add to your photograph. The three types of lights available in Photoshop are spotlight, omni, and direction. Each type of light will affect the image in different ways.

4. Adjust the location and size of the light with your mouse. You may also change the intensity, focus, gloss, material, exposure, ambiance and color of the light to better achieve your desired result.

5. Select "OK" once you are finished, and save your new image.
