An eyecup makes photography easier for eyeglass wearers.
If your eyeglasses make it difficult to use your Canon Digital Rebel's viewfinder, make adjustments to the camera's built-in diopter or accessorize your camera with an eye cup. The small viewfinder attachment protrudes out from the camera's optical viewfinder, creating more space for eyeglasses to rest behind the camera without bumping into buttons on the camera body. Since an eye cup acts as a viewfinder extension, it creates more room for your nose, making camera viewfinder usage more comfortable than adjusting the camera's diopter.
Instructions
Using an Eye Cup
1. Squeeze gently on both sides of the piece located on the back of the camera, over the optical viewfinder, to remove the existing eyepiece from the back of the Digital Rebel.
2. Pull up while squeezing to remove the eyepiece.
3. Hold the new eye cup directly over the optical viewfinder on the back of the camera. Line up the grooved edges of the eye cup and push it down into the corresponding grooves on each side of the viewfinder.
4. Push until you hear the eye cup click into place.
5. Bring the back of the camera up to your face and rest the soft outer lining of the eye cup against the surface of your eyeglasses. Peer through the viewfinder to compose your next photograph.
Adjusting the Diopter
6. Flip the power switch on the rear of the camera to "On."
7. Squeeze both sides of the eyepiece attachment and pull up to remove the eyepiece from the optical viewfinder.
8. Place your finger on the camera's diopter adjustment to the right of the optical viewfinder. The diopter dial is labeled with "+/-."
9. Peer through the optical viewfinder while wearing your eyeglasses and lightly touch the shutter button to activate the camera's focusing screen.
10. Rotate the diopter adjustment back and forth with your finger until the text data in the viewfinder appears sharply focused for your level of vision.
11. Slide the eyepiece attachment into the grooves on each side of the optical viewfinder.
