Transfer Videos From A Canon Powershot Camera To A Computer

Upload video onto the computer using a USB cable.

When taking videos on a Canon PowerShot, it's a good idea to transfer them to your computer. Not only will you be backing up the videos to protect them, but you can also edit the video or send it to someone else. To transfer the video from the camera to your computer, you'll need several accessories that were included when you purchased the PowerShot.

Instructions

1. Install the Digital Camera Solution disc that came with your Canon PowerShot by inserting it into the CD drive on your computer and following the prompts on the wizard that pops up. Installing the specialized Canon software helps guide you during the video transfer.

2. Remove the CD when installation is complete and restart your computer if you're prompted to do so.

3. Plug one end of the USB cable into the connector on the camera, with the camera off. Place the USB end of the cable into an open USB port on your computer.

4. Turn the camera on and ensure that it is in playback mode.

5. Open the CameraWindow software on your computer. The software may automatically start when the camera is on and connected. But if it doesn't start, you can manually start it from where you previously installed it.

6. Select "Import Images from Camera" and then select the images you wish to move to the computer. If you want to move everything that hasn't been moved, click on "Import Untransferred Images."

7. Allow the transfer to complete and then click "OK" when you're finished before disconnecting the camera.
