The Midland GXT450 is a two-way radio designed for indoor or outdoor use. This unit's design allows it to work in all types of weather up to a range of 10 miles. The Midland Company no longer produces this model of two-way radios.
Calling Features
The total effective operating range of the Midland GXT450 is 10 miles on 22 radio channels. This unit features 38 Continuous Tone Coded Squelch System (CTCSS) codes for use with all 22 channels. The Midland GXT450 two-way radio has five different call tone options. There is also a vibration mode for silent use and an auto-squelch available.
CTCSS codes are circuit functions designed to help reduce harsh frequencies when listening to incoming messages on your radio. These tones broadcast between 67 to 254 hertz and work by replacing missing strong input signals. The tone acts as a strong input signal and in turn, excludes lower-powered input signals.
With built-in access to weather updates by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), this unit is ideal for outdoor activities such as hunting, camping and hiking.
Operating Features
This model of two-way radio offers low, medium and high power settings. There is an option for automatic shutoff of the unit when it is not in use to help preserve battery life.
The Midland GTX450 features an input for microphone headsets for users who wish to broadcast with better clarity and privacy. There is also a speakerphone option for hands-free usage.
