BlackBerry smartphones do more than send and receive phone calls and text messages. You can download different BlackBerry applications, or apps, to the device and then use them for business or fun. Most BlackBerry devices come preloaded with a number of apps such as an alarm clock or a calculator. However, you can find a variety of other applications to personalize your smartphone. Check stocks or sports scores, stay connected to friends and loved ones through one of the many social networking site apps, or play a game to pass the time. Some applications are free, whereas others are available for a fee.
Instructions
1. Go to the BlackBerry App World download page (see Resources) in the browser on the BlackBerry device.
2. Scroll to and click on "Download" once the site loads on the screen.
3. Find the BlackBerry App World icon on the device's home screen and select the icon.
4. Browse through the available applications.
5. Select the app you want and pay the fee, if necessary. BlackBerry App World accepts credit cards and PayPal. You can also apply the fee to a cell phone bill.
6. Find the application's icon on the BlackBerry home screen and select it. Follow the on-screen prompts to begin using the application.
