Each Garmin StreetPilot c340 comes preloaded with a map. However, over time, the road and points of interest change and new maps are needed. Also, you may wish to travel abroad and download maps for your trip. Garmin offers updates on its website that come in a variety of forms.
Instructions
1. Go the Garmin website to see the options you have for updating your maps (see link in References).
2. Decide whether this will be a one-time upgrade or if it would be more economical to purchase a lifetime update package. If the update is for a trip to an area you will likely not be returning to or if you will be replacing your GPS device before you would need to purchase another map update, it is generally better to get the one-time upgrade. However, if you plan to keep your GPS for a long time and update it several times, it is better to get the lifetime package.
3. Install the Garmin Communicator Plugin so the Garmin website can detect and link to the Garmin StreetPilot c340. Connect the Garmin StreetPilot c340 to the computer via the USB connection cable and transfer the map onto the device.
