Hook Up A System To A 10 Disk Cd Changer

Adding a 10-disc CD changer to a car audio system gives access to your CDs with a push of a button. The changer is designed to work with a head unit that is compatible with your changer. For example, If you have a Sony changer then you will need to have a Sony head unit that has changer control options to control the CD changer. You need to confirm the changer will work with your head unit before starting the installation.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the negative terminal from your car battery.

2. Drill screws through the holes on the changer's mounting bracket directly into the chassis to mount your changer in the location of your choosing. Be sure not to drill screws into any existing wires or fuel tanks.

3. Remove your head unit from the dashboard. Consult the owner's manual for your head unit for the proper deck removal process.

4. Run the data cable that comes with the changer from the head unit to the location you have mounted the changer. If the changer is in the trunk you may need to drill a hole large enough in the wall behind the back seat to feed the cable through. Remove the screws to the door's scuff plate and remove it on the passenger's side. Pull up the carpet and run the cable underneath to the dash board and feed the cable from the dash board to the head unit's location. The power, audio signal and the signal that tells the changer which disc to play and the track is all in the one data cable.

5. Plug the end of the data cable into the data cable connection on the changer. There is only one place on the changer that the data cable will fit.

6. Plug the other end of the data cable into the CD changer control slot on the back of the head unit. There is only one place on the back of the head unit that the data cable will fit.

7. Re-install the head unit back into the dash, and connect the negative terminal to your battery.
