Troubleshoot A Nikon Coolpix S9 Battery

Power off your camera before removing the battery.

The Nikon Coolpix S9 compact digital camera is powered by a EN-EL8 lithium-ion battery that should last for an average of 190 pictures before it needs to be recharged. Using a battery that isn't fully charged may cause performance issues with your Coolpix S9. Check your battery's charge if you experience problems with the camera. Issues include the camera turning itself off, reversion of settings to factory default, or the camera may not power on.

Instructions

1. Turn off the camera.

2. Open the battery compartment door. Press the battery latch toward the front of the camera. This frees the battery from the slot. Remove the battery.

3. Recharge the battery using a MH-62 battery charger. The charger will blink until the battery is fully charged.

4. Clean the terminals with a soft cloth. Dirt on the terminals can affect performance or cause the battery to stop working.

5. Return the battery to the compartment in the camera. Close the compartment door until it clicks. The camera will not function correctly if the compartment door is ajar.

6. Push the power button. If the problem persists, replace the battery with a new, fully charged one. Your original battery may not be holding a charge.

7. Recharge your batteries before they become completely drained. Lithium-ion batteries perform poorly over time when allowed to drain completely.
