Troubleshoot A Canon A720 Camera

Damaged memory cards can hamper the performance of your camera.

It's frustrating when you click the shutter button down on your camera and nothing happens. You can troubleshoot your Canon PowerShot A720 IS digital camera by closing compartment doors securely, ensuring the power supply is working, and checking if the memory card is functional.

Restart

Restart your PowerShot; often this can resolve the problem. Make sure that all compartment doors are closed securely. If they are open even slightly, the batteries or memory card will not connect properly, preventing the camera from working.

Power Supply

The two AA alkaline batteries need to be charged and inserted in correctly into the PowerShot A720. If the batteries are dead or loaded incorrectly, the camera will not work. Low batteries can keep the camera from taking pictures or storing data.

Storage Trouble

Full or damaged memory cards will not allow the camera to store data to them. Damaged cards might be discolored or have missing contacts and may need to be discarded. If your Canon will not record data and a "Card Locked" message appears in the LCD, replace the SD or SDHC memory card with an empty one.
