It's easy to fax copies of messages on your Blackberry by following several straightforward steps and making a couple of fairly inexpensive purchases. Once you set up your Blackberry to send faxes, you may find that its most valuable use is your ability to use any nearby fax machine as an ad-hoc printer when you are away from your home or office.

Set Up Your Blackberry to Send a Fax
1. Set up your Blackberry to send faxes if you will frequently be "on the road." Doing so will enable you to send a fax or print a hard copy of a document stored on your Blackberry or found in your email message queue.
2. Check with your corporate system administrator (if you are using your Blackberry for corporate purposes) to see if your company or organization already owns the software and service you will need for sending faxes via your Blackberry.
3. Sign up for a fax gateway service with eFax or Faxaway (see Resources below). These services are very inexpensive and usually include a nominal monthly fee with additional per-unit charges for sending faxes domestically and internationally.
4. Download a fairly inexpensive program called Mail2Fax from Handango (see Resources below). You can find the program and begin the download by searching for Mail2Fax on the Handango website and specifying your Blackberry's exact model number. This will help ensure compatibility.
5. Install Mail2Fax on your Blackberry once the download is complete. Perform the installation by using your Blackberry's "Application Loader" link from your "Desktop Manager."
6. Configure Mail2Fax for your Blackberry from the home screen. Settings for eFax and Faxaway are already pre-configured options, so all you need to do is select the service you have already activated, save the settings and get ready to fax.

7. Navigate to your "Messages" list off the Home screen and use the track-wheel to select a message you want to fax.
8. Press the track-wheel on any message and select Mail2Fax from the menu that appears on your screen.
9. Enter the fax number of your intended recipient and click "Send."
