Are you unwilling to let people know just how much of an email junkie you are? Instead of investing in or carrying around a BlackBerry to keep you in touch with your email world, technology allows you to use your cell phone for just that purpose.
Instructions
Gmail for Mobile
1. Go to the Google website and enter your phone number. Google will send a text message to your phone with a link for you to download the program, or it will tell you that your cell phone will not work.
2. Download the program when cleared to do so. Install the program by following the prompts.
3. Get the program running, and you'll see a cell-phone-sized version of Gmail. If you need them, you'll find the typical keyboard shortcuts, and Gmail maintains the string of emails with their related replies, just as you would see on your computer.
4. Delete and reply to emails. Whatever you do to your mail on your cell phone will be reflected in your actual email account, just as with a BlackBerry.
Yahoo Go
5. Go to Yahoo and download the latest version of Yahoo Go. Take the tour provided to get an inside look at the program.
6. Install the program by clicking on the provided link and following directions. You'll notice that you have access to your online address book.
7. Set up Yahoo Go by adding in how many messages you would like to check for each day.
Teleflip
8. Sign up with Teleflip. Provide the details of your email account.
9. Set your cell phone to ring or vibrate when new messages arrive. Teleflip, in this sense, acts more like a BlackBerry than the other two options, in that it checks for incoming mail every 15 minutes.
10. Send responses just as you would from your email account; your recipient receives responses as regular emails.
11. Enjoy your BlackBerry-style ability to email, while letting the world think you're just using your cell phone.
