Restore A Corrupted Sd Card

SD cards provide storage for videos, music and important files.

Portable storage devices provide the freedom to carry files with you wherever you go. Unfortunately, SD cards can become corrupted because of any number of reasons such as removing the card while it is still in use or removing the device while it is in use on a computer. A corrupted SD card can lead to a ruined card and a loss of all of the files stored on it. However, there are ways to restore a corrupted SD and potentially to save the files within it.

Instructions

Restore Without Recovering Files

1. Insert the SD card into your computer.

2. Open the "My Computer" folder and right-click the SD card to bring up a drop-down menu.

3. Select "Format" to bring up a new window and click "Start" to begin the formatting process.

Restore and Recover Files

4. Open the cgsecurity.org website. (See Resources.)

5. Click on the link that corresponds to the operating system that you are running on your computer and save the file.

6. Run the program and select the SD device that you want to restore.

7. Wait while the program recovers any files stored on the corrupted SD card.

8. Close the program when it is completed and open the restored folder.
