Digital cameras are small and have many small parts.
Many types of digital cameras are small, pocket-sized devices. This means that many of the parts on the camera are very small. To disassemble a digital camera, you will need to determine how the device is assembled.
Instructions
1. Place a cloth on a table or desk where you plan to work.
2. Examine the outside of the camera and locate all the Phillips screws that hold the case together. These will be located on the bottom and sides of the camera.
3. Remove the screws from the camera with the precision Phillips screwdriver. Let the screws fall on the cloth, then put them in a safe place, such as in a plastic bag.
4. Separate the back section of the camera--the part with the LCD screen--from the front or body of the camera. Do not pull the two pieces far apart because a ribbon cable connects the two.
5. Turn the ring that surrounds the lens of the camera until it comes off. Remove the two or three additional screws located under the ring.
6. Pull the font panel off the camera to expose the circuit board underneath. Remove the screws that secure the circuit board and lens to the case or body, and pull the circuit board out of the camera.
