Atomic clocks measure oscillations of an atom.
Your "atomic clock" probably isn't an actual atomic clock. Consumer atomic clocks synchronize on a regular basis with one of the actual atomic clocks someplace in the world. The process of synchronizing your clock with an atomic clock is much the same as synchronizing with any other clock. However, because your atomic clock updates regularly, you will have to re-synchronize more often than you would with most other clocks.
Instructions
1. Determine when your atomic clock updates with its transmitting clock. You can usually find that information in the manual that came with the clock.
2. Choose a time to synchronize shortly after your atomic clock updates.
3. Enter the time-setting function of your regular clock. The specific method for doing this varies from clock to clock, but usually involves pushing a button that says "Time" or "Set Time."
4. Set your regular clock for one minute later than the current time on your atomic clock.
5. Wait until the time on your atomic clock matches the time on your regular clock.
6. Exit the time-setting function of your regular clock.
