The Roland MC-50, a music recording and sequencing device, saves data on a floppy disk. These disks occasionally break in the course of normal wear and tear. Though replacement floppy drives may be hard to find, the act of replacing the drive is simple. If you do not have access to floppy disks, you may wish to use a different method of storing data, such as connecting the MC-50 to the computer and saving music directly to the computer.
Instructions
1. Disconnect the MC-50 from its power source by removing the power adapter from the electrical outlet.
2. Turn the device over, so that the front lies against the surface of a table. Remove the screws that hold the back in place using a screwdriver. Set these screws aside.
3. Lift the back cover off the MC-50 and set it aside.
4. Remove the small screws that hold the floppy drive in place using a screwdriver. Set the screws aside and pull the floppy drive away from the device by several inches. Disconnect the cable connecting to the floppy drive to the device. Discard the old drive.
5. Place the new floppy drive in the empty cavity left by the old drive. Attach the cable to the new drive. Insert the screws and tighten them with the screwdriver. Replace the case and secure it with the screws.
