Panasonic projection TVs have a reputation for reliable service and high-end options which rank them among the elite in home electronics. Most of their projection TVs use a lamp to power the screen, which will eventually burn out the same way any other light bulb can. Panasonic sells replacement bulbs and you can also buy them online through outlets such as Amazon.com. Replacing them is a fairly easy process which you can perform yourself, without having to call a repairman.
Instructions
1. Shut off the power to the Panasonic projection TV and wait 1 to 3 minutes until you hear the cooling fan stop. Then unplug the TV. Don't unplug the TV before you hear the fan stop or else it might damage the set.
2. Wait until the lamp has a chance to cool down. It may be quite hot after it has been used. Panasonic recommends leaving the TV off and unplugged for at least an hour before swapping out the lamp.
3. Open the cover on the front of the TV and turn the lamp cover knob to the "open" position (usually by turning it to the left). Then pull the lamp cover itself out and down to access the lamp itself.
4. Turn the lamp unit knob (not to be confused with the lamp cover knob) to the "open" position (usually by turning it to the left). Pull the old lamp free of the TV by grasping the lamp unit knob and carefully pulling on it.
5. Slide the new lamp into place, making sure that it's facing the same direction and in the same position as the old lamp.
6. Turn the lamp unit knob to the "lock" position, usually by turning it to the right. You should here a clicking noise to tell you that it's locked.
7. Shut the lamp cover and turn the lamp cover knob to the "lock" position, usually by turning it to the right, Then close the front cover on the Panasonic projection TV.
8. Reset the lamp time (the specifics depend on the precise type of lamp you have purchased), then turn the TV on. If the screen doesn't come on, you may not have secured the lamp properly. Double check the cover knob and lamp knob to make sure they are both locked.
