Make Songs Into Ringtones

Most cell phone ringtones are nothing more than a 20- to 30-second portion of a song. You can use an audio editing software to make these, but that can be somewhat difficult if you're unfamiliar with the program. Instead, you can make songs into ringtones by uploading the songs onto the Mobile17 website. This website has been featured in both magazines and on television. Here is how you can use Mobile17 to easily turn songs into ringtones.

Instructions

1. Visit the "New Users" page on Mobile17 (see Resources below). On that page, you will need to fill out what type of phone you have and which company you use for cell phone service. You must also enter an email address. When you're finished with all of the required forms, click "Save." An activation Web page will appear. At the same time, you will receive an email from Mobile17. Open that email to get the activation code. Enter that code on the Web page and click "Save" again to finish creating your Mobile17 account.

2. Log into your Mobile17 account (see Resources below). On the next page, select your cell phone from the different cell phones listed on the page. Once you click on the phone, you will be taken to a new page.

3. Click the "Mega/Super/Real Tones" link on the right side of the page.

4. Click the "Choose Standard" tab on the next page to make your free ringtone. On the next page, choose which method you want to use in order to download the ringtone. You can receive the download in a text message sent to your phone. You can also choose to receive a link from Mobile17. After you receive the link, you will need to open that link using your phone's Web browser. From there, you can select a "Download" link to download the ringtone directly to your cell phone.

5. Type your phone number in at the bottom of the page and then click "Continue."

6. Click the "Browse" tab on the next page. Once you do, search for the song on your computer that you want to make into a Mobile17 ringtone. Scroll down the page and type in the artist and song name in the "Track Info" boxes. Then, type in the starting point for your ringtone in the "Min" and "Sec" boxes found in step 3. Type in how long you would like the ringtone to be in the text box found in step 4. Click the "Continue" tab at the bottom of the page when you're finished.

7. Wait while the ringtone uploads to the Mobile17 server. You will then receive the ringtone or the link for the ringtone (depending on what you chose in step 4) within one hour.
