Make A Cardboard Box Guitar

Making a cardboard box guitar is easy to do, and can be a delight for young children. Letting your child make his own guitar will help give him an appreciation for music, and he can have fun playing his homemade guitar when he is done. With a few basic materials and the steps listed, your child can learn make a cardboard box guitar.

Instructions

1. Paint a rectangular cardboard tissue box with an oval hole in the middle and in the color(s) of your choice. Let your child be creative, and be sure to cover up any evidence of the tissue-box design for a more realistic effect. Let the paint dry.

2. Wrap three to five rubber bands lengthwise around the cardboard box, so that they are located next to each other and across the oval hole in the middle.

3. Tape or glue an unsharpened pencil underneath the "strings" and slightly below the oval-shaped hole in the box to give the guitar a more realistic feel.

4. Glue an empty paper-towel roll onto the top of the tissue box to make the other half of the guitar. This will give the child somewhere to hold onto the guitar when strumming, and will help it to look more like a real instrument.

5. Cut a piece of yarn and attach it to the top of the paper-towel roll and to the bottom of the box to make a guitar strap for your cardboard box guitar.
