Properly Bridge A Bridgable Car Amplifier

Bridging a car amplifier is a great way to make use of unused power in your amp. For instance, if you're running a four-channel amplifier but you're only powering two subwoofers, you could bridge the four channels, combining the power into just two. Be sure that the amplifier is bridgeable before performing the bridge or you could damage the amp, because some amps are already bridged internally.

Instructions

1. Connect the positive and negative lead to the terminals in the back of the speaker or subwoofer you're powering. Be sure you connect positive to positive and negative to negative.

2. Connect the positive lead of the speaker wire's output to the positive input of Channel 1 on your amplifier.

3. Connect the negative lead of the speaker wire's output to the negative input of Channel 2 on your amplifier. Channels 1 and 2 are now bridged.

4. Repeat the process for Channels 3 and 4 with another speaker or subwoofer.
