The Pixma MP470 is an all-in-one printer made by Canon. Designed for printing high-quality photos, it also scans and copies using an upper copier tray. It has a pop-up LCD screen that shows photos from memory cards and digital cameras, allowing you to edit the photo directly from its digital form without putting it on the computer. The MP470 uses inkjet ink, a liquid ink that comes in 1.5-inch wide cartridges. You'll probably replace the black ink cartridge two or three times a year, depending on how much you use the printer.
Instructions
1. Turn on the printer and check the LCD screen for error messages like "Low Ink." Hit "OK" and push the LCD screen closed. Reach your hand under the handle on the front of the printer under the copy tray and pull up to reveal the inside of the printer.
2. Wait for the printer head to center itself in the middle. Do not try to remove ink while any part of the printer is moving. Take out the old black ink cartridge by gripping the front and back between your thumb and forefinger and pulling straight up. In some cases you may need to wiggle it forward slightly before pulling up. Dispose of it in a sealable plastic bag.
3. Shake the new black cartridge before removing all packaging from it. Pull off the thin plastic tab on the bottom. Do not remove or scratch the copper square on the back of the cartridge.
4. Set the new cartridge in the printer tray where the old one was, numbers facing forward, and push down until it clicks into place.
5. Close the lid and wait for the printer head to realign to the left. Once the printer quiets down, print a test page to try out the new ink.
