Install Garmin Maps

In recent years, companies like Garmin have exploded in popularity because they are able to offer GPS, Global Positioning System, services to people. These services have helped people find their way when they otherwise might have gotten lost. Garmin is able to continually supply users with up-to-date information because the company provides updated maps for users to upload to their devices.

Instructions

1. Use a USB cable to connect the Garmin GPS unit to a computer. Wait about 30 seconds to a minute for the computer to detect the Garmin system. The Garmin update program will launch automatically.

2. Choose to download the update. After doing this, Garmin will provide the product key. You will need this number to finish downloading the program. Click "Next" to continue the installation process.

3. Place a check in the box on the next page that asks if you accept the software and license agreement. Click on the "Next" button.

4. Watch to see what is being installed onto the Garmin GPS System. For example, if software updates are needed, the installer will automatically install them.

5. Type in the project key that was given in Step 2. If you purchased a DVD, you can find this number in the green box on the back of the DVD case.

6. Leave. The process to install Garmin maps can take more than an hour. It is best to let the program install and return later after the installation is finished.

7. Remove the USB cord from the Garmin GPS System and click "Finish" on the screen. The maps have now been installed.
