Instructions For A Panasonic Kx Tg5100

The Panasonic KX-TG5100 is a 5.8 GHz cordless phone that can allow for up to eight additional handsets. The phone comes with one handset on a base that includes a speakerphone, digital answering machine, a call log that can store 50 phone calls, caller ID and intercom capabilities between additional handsets. The initial setup for the phone can be confusing for some, however, after becoming accustomed to the features, usage should be straightforward.


Instructions


1. Plug in the unit to a wall outlet and the plug the phone line into the port provided in the back of the base unit. Place the battery inside the phone and rest the phone on the charger base. Allow up to six hours to fully charge before use. Place the two antennas that are attached to the base of the unit in the upright position.


2. Press the "Conf/Function" button on the phone to access the main menu of the telephone. From the main menu, you can access the phone book, ringer settings, which include a choice of ringtones and volumes, and LCD contrast. The same items can be accessed on the base of the unit as well by pressing "Function/Edit." The answering machine settings are accessible from the base unit as well by scrolling through the main menu to "Set Answering" and choosing between the options that include number of rings, recording, remote access code and call monitoring.


3. Set the date and time in order to have the answering machine give you accurate information about a missed call. Once again, hit the "Function/Edit" button and scroll to "Date/Time." Enter two digits for each month, day and year then enter four digits for the time and scroll across to adjust between a.m. and p.m. by pressing the "*" button. Continue by pressing the down button on the base unit's direction pad to save the settings.


4. Press and hold the "Greeting" button to record a personalized message for the answering machine. If you do not record a message, a factory-installed standardized greeting will be used instead. When you are finished recording, press the "Greeting" button again to save the message. You can press the "Greeting" button at any time to hear your recorded greeting.


5. Press the "Answer On" button to activate the answering machine. To listen to messages, press the "1" button under the mailbox label. Press the "Erase" button at any point to delete a message.
