Recommended Tripods For 20x80 Binoculars

Tripods for the 20X80 Binoculars come in various sizes.

Binoculars with a power of 20 x 80 are high-powered and are mostly designed for amateur astronomers, although they also can be used for long-range hunting, bird watching and surveillance. Because of the power of the zoom, even slight movements caused by shaky hands can disrupt the image to the point where it may not be useful, so a number of tripods have been developed to enhance the functionality of the binoculars. These tripods can vary in size and quality, and it is important to obtain the proper stand, as even a light version of 20 x 80 binoculars can weigh more than five pounds.

Garrett Series 3000 Tripod + Pan Head

Highly durable as well as versatile, the Garrett Series 3000 is made of heavy aluminum and there are rubber grips on two of the three legs. The reason one leg does not have a rubber grip is to ease sliding the stand for adjustment and repositioning. The tripod is also useful for people with a digital camera or other types of viewing equipment. This makes finding the proper view in the sky with a high-powered set of binoculars and then switching to a camera without losing your sight line possible. The versatility also helps accommodate users of various heights, as the stand can fully extend to a height of 78 inches, meaning a particularly tall user wouldn't need to bendt over constantly to use it.

Orion Paragon-Plus XHD Tripod and Pan Head

While not as strong as the Garrett Series 3000, the Orion Paragon-Plus is capable of supporting most 20 x 80 binoculars and has easy mounting and adjustment abilities, although the height only reaches 67 inches. While it is about a foot shorter than the Garrett, few people need a tripod to reach six-and-a-half feet, so it is still plenty tall for general use. It is an affordable medium-duty tripod.

Zhumell Astronomical Binoculars Tripod

A very heavy-duty tripod, the Zhumell can hold up to 25 pounds and is specially-designed for larger binoculars. Capable of extending to 78 inches, the Zhumell is also highly portable, weighing only about seven and a half pounds. The tripod can be used easily on hikes or camping trips, offering both portability as well as durability.
