Dish Network offers packages with a comprehensive listing of local channels, and serves more than 160 local channel markets. Local channels are also broadcast in high definition and provided at a low cost (less than $10). Some packages may offer local channels without any additional charge, however. Follow the steps below to get your local channels through Dish Network.
Instructions
1. Use the toll-free number (1-888-284-7116) to call Dish Network customer service and inquire about local channel programming.
2. If you're comfortable on the Internet, go to the company's Web site (see Resources) to find detailed information about Dish Network's local channel programming.
3. On the home page, move the mouse cursor to the Programming option of the menu located on the top of the screen.
4. Select the Local Channels option from the resulting sub-menu.
5. Use the Local Channels Lookup facility to determine the channels available in your region. To do so, type your address and zip code. A list of local networks available will be displayed.
6. Dish Network offers local channels in most areas in the United States, although high-definition (HD) local programs are only available in limited markets. If you can't access local channels, Dish Network provides access to the local channels of the nearest available network through a service called Distant Broadband Networks.
7. Already existing customers can upgrade their package to include local channels either by calling customer service or by using the "Upgrade Now" feature on the website.
