Most everyone likes to watch movies of some sort, and the convenience of a DVD player built into a TV can be worth its weight in gold. Whether you'd like one to save space or money, a TV/DVD combo is a great choice.
Instructions
1. Know where you'll be putting the TV/DVD and know what size you want. If you're looking for a small addition to your bedroom, be sure to have a good idea where you'd like to put it so you can best estimate size. If the TV/DVD will be a larger set for primary TV use, you'll want to be sure it fits well into a specific room and/or entertainment center.
2. Determine what, if any, extra qualities you want in the TV. Since you're looking for a TV with a DVD player inside, that may be enough for you. But if you will be connecting to anything else, such as a cable or satellite box or VCR, you'll want to be sure the TV has plenty of outputs. You may also want a high quality screen type, like HDTV, plasma or LCD.
3. Investigate how and where the DVD is inserted. Some have the DVD device under the screen and some newer (typically smaller) players can be found along the side of the TV. If you'll be utilizing an entertainment center, be sure you can reach the DVD mechanism easily.
4. Budget for your purchase. Most TVs with built-in DVD are reasonably priced. Determine whether it's cheaper to invest in a TV/DVD system or separate components. Know how much you can spend before shopping.
5. Search the Internet for TVs that match the qualities you desire. Chain store Web sites for stores such as Best Buy, Circuit City, Target and Wal-Mart can get you started finding what is available and comparing prices before shopping in the store. Web sites such as Consumer Reports can help you determine the best buys.
6. Hit the stores and check out the TVs. Talk to store personnel about TVs with built-in DVD players. Ask questions about TV performance, ease of use, price and warranty information. Don't only check out the electronic qualities of the TV, but its aesthetic qualities also.
