Connect a Video Camera to a TV
Many video cameras have small LCD viewing screens attached. These screens are most useful for previewing video. To really enjoy the videos you've recorded, use a television to play back your videos. You can quickly connect your video camera to your television in a few minutes using the correct audio/video cable.

1. Locate the video output connector(s) on your camcorder and your television to determine what type of audio visual cables you will need. Camcorders' video output connections vary according to manufacturer and model, but most will have either a single S-video connector or three different colored-yellow, red, and white-RCA video output connectors. Once you have determined what type of video output connectors you need, you can purchase the correct audio/visual cables, if necessary.
2. Use the appropriate audio/video cable to connect your camcorder to your television. For camcorders with RCA video output connectors, use a RCA audio/video cable. Connect by matching the colors on the output and input ends to the corresponding colors on your camcorder and your television. Yellow is for video input/output; the red and white cables are for audio input/output. If your camcorder has a S-video connector, your cable will have a S-video connector on one end and three colored RCA connectors on the opposite end. The S-video connection will go into the S-video connector on your camcorder; on the opposite end, connect the RCA connectors into the corresponding RCA connections on your television, matching by color.
3. Turn on your camcorder. Then turn on your television, and switch to the channel you would use to play your VCR or DVD player, otherwise known as your "Input Select" channel. Once you find the appropriate channel, press "Play" on your camcorder. Your video will begin playing.
